Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Bossert graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1987, and then earned a Fellowship in the Institute of Canadian Bankers in 1998. In 2001, he earned a diploma in the International Masters Program in Practicing Management from France's INSEAD University and then a Masters Degree in Management Studies from McGill University.
